Joe was a well known San Antonio, Texas radio DJ. He used his middle name Anthony as his radio last name. Joe Anthony was on San Antonio radio for 5 decades mainly known for his work on San Antonio stations KMAC & KISS. In the 1980's he was nicknamed "The Godfather of Rock n' Roll". Joe's career started in the 1950's playing Rhythm & Blues records on KMAC-AM's "Harlem Serenade". By the 1970's his album rock show was also simulcast on KISS-FM where he was one of the first to feature up and coming Hard Rock and later Heavy Metal bands. Joe along with KMAC/KISS's other main personality Lou Roney helped popularize in San Antonio, South Texas then little known band like Rush, Triumph and Judas Priest just to name a few. Many of these bands credit Joe & Lou and the exposure received on KMAC/KISS to launching their careers. Joe Anthony's memory lives on in the music he brought to San Antonio and making it "The Heavy Metal Capitol Of The World". Joe's buried at Sunset Memorial Park 1701 Austin Hwy. San Antonio.
